Trip Highlight:: #Maui part 2 🌺

Another look into our trip in Maui with @tourismcares and @hvcb ...

— We were treated like royalty at our home away from home, @thewestinmaui !
— @sheratonmaui was an incredible host for the @tourismcares forum where we met impact partners all over Hawaii (looking at you, @leilanifarmsanctuary @imumeaai @gofarmhawaii @mauiculturallands @sailtrilogy and more!)
— We came, saw and conquered at the @grandwailea and @ritzcarltonkapalua
— We experienced a working pineapple farm at none other, @mauigoldpineapple (Yes, I did carry a pineapple back as my carry on).
— We had an incredible evening at the @oldlahainaluau , the most authentic luau in Maui!
— We toured the @mauioceancenter and learned how they are protecting Hawai‘i’s remarkable marine life. P.S. Did you know they care for one of the world’s largest collections of live Pacific corals?
— We ate chocolate! And toured @mauichocolate 20-acre cacao farm and their hands-on fruit harvesting techniques.
— @sailtrilogy took us on a sail up and down the Ka’anapali where we chased the sunset (and saw whales 🐋!)
— Last but not least, we made our mark. We met with the @skylinehawaii @skylineconservation team where we helped plant trees in an area that they are working to restore 100% native ecosystem to the area of Pōhakuokalā.

Here are two important takeaways that will help you be a responsible traveler on your next visit to this magical island:
⭐Do your research before visiting (ahem, confide in someone like us, or local partners). Support organizations that support Hawaiian culture and give back to communities.
⭐Treat Maui (and anywhere you go) as you would your own home. Leave it better than you found it. In Hawaiian, this is called malama.

Trip Highlight:: Maui (part 1!) 🌺

I had the absolute (!) privilege of traveling with @tourismcares @gohawaii and the @hvcb to attend a Meaningful Travel Trip in #Maui this past December. And what a trip it was!

@tourismcares is a non-profit whose mission is near and dear to my heart. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing sustainability and meaningful travel within the travel and tourism industry — overall, moving #travel in a positive direction for all. Fun fact :: did you know that we partner with this organization? Meaning, simply by choosing your travels with us at @saltsanctuarysoul you are making travel better.

This specific trip was rooted in education, having conversations around meaningful travel - and what that means for your travel - and, of course, hitting-the-ground-running experiencing the culture, tastes and beauty of the Hawaiian islands. 🍍 (Stay tuned for part 2!)

Additionally, during the trip, I was absolutely honored to sit on a panel - next to our partners at @virtuosoltd and @pleasantholidays - to discuss my experiences infusing our trips we plan with these same values. Our manifesto has always been deeply rooted with diving into the meaning of this one word: #connection. We live for bringing people together - near and far. This is woven into everything we do and the partners we choose embrace not only sustainable practices, but also singing our same tune that our travel will make a positive impact.

Back from Mexico City 🇲🇽 !! We were waiting for this week with @salt_water_farm and @sobremesa.mx for as long as we can remember (truly)! Our bellies (and recipe books!) are full, suitcases packed with color and the vivaciousness of Mexico City is still ringing in our minds. What a week!

We cooked, we walked, we ate, we laughed, we made our first tamales (thank you @arturo.masa.y.sal!), we cheersed, we conquered the city! (Yes, the list goes on!) We are immensely grateful for this group who traveled with us to experience the culinary delights of Roma Norte with our fearless leader and chef extraordinaire, Annemarie. In our eyes, this week was perfect in every sense. Thank you + until next time!

In the heart of the Baixo Alentejo region, only about 2 hours from #Lisbon, you’ll find yourself at @malhadinhanova for secluded serenity, vineyards, good food and endless space. Ok, and some pretty breathtaking sunsets! Time seems to stand still here. You’ll experience a very Alentejo-style farm with acres upon acres of vines at its feet.

This location is perfect for everyone: families, groups of friends, couples and individuals! 
Recently awarded with a Green Michelin Star, you’ll love the slow meals, explore the estate’s culinary traditions and enjoy traditional Portuguese dishes with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Don’t even get me started on the wine, but I’m happy to tell you my behind-the-scenes with the property’s head winemakers 🍷 and sommelier!! Just ask ;) One of my favorite takeaways about the wine was the sweet ode to their children — the labels are crafted with the owner’s children’s artwork. So if you are one of those that buys wine for the label, just you wait! #storytelling done right!

Another thing that took my breath away is the thoughtful contrast between modern and rural… new and old… The inspirations are pulled from the surroundings and the property (and people’s!) history. This blend of original handmade pieces, collections from the estate and pulling in from local/regional Portuguese artisans infuses each and every space.

This is the true nature of the #Alentejo region and one amazing countryside experience. I mean, seriously, what a treat!

This September, participants gathered for the Radiant Sun ☀️ Retreat in #Jamaica with @ashleylorenzoyoga, just before the Fall equinox, to savor the last moments of summer at the beauty that is @tensingpen in #Negril. This yoga and wellness retreat was a true celebration of the season’s energy, offering attendees a chance to reconnect with their inner light and ignite the solar fire within.

The vibrant hues of Jamaica’s sunsets, the gentle caress of the ocean breeze, and the rhythmic melodies of the island created the perfect backdrop for this experience. The retreat provided much-needed space for relaxation and rejuvenation - a little group happenings here, their little own vacation there…! A perfect balance!

With Jamaica’s tropical paradise as their backdrop, we believe everyone left deeply inspired and ready to carry the retreat’s radiant energy into their everyday lives. Let’s see where Ashley heads next…!

This September, participants gathered for the Radiant Sun ☀️ Retreat in #Jamaica with @ashleylorenzoyoga, just before the Fall equinox, to savor the last moments of summer at the beauty that is @tensingpen in #Negril. This yoga and wellness retreat was a true celebration of the season’s energy, offering attendees a chance to reconnect with their inner light and ignite the solar fire within.

The vibrant hues of Jamaica’s sunsets, the gentle caress of the ocean breeze, and the rhythmic melodies of the island created the perfect backdrop for this experience. The retreat provided much-needed space for relaxation and rejuvenation - a little group happenings here, their little own vacation there…! A perfect balance!

A love letter to a Panamanian Paradise…

#Paradise was found in the most eclectic setting in a tropical rainforest on a beautiful bay, set within a National Park. This #sanctuary uniquely integrates nature and culture into the most authentic and exclusive getaway.

One of the best parts is truly the location. Just a short drive from vibrant Panama City, you’ll be quickly transported into a dreamlike place that you have never set eyes on before. You’ll dip in the Caribbean certainly, but you’ll wake up with the howlers and swim in your private (!) infinity pool, too. On top of that, you’ll engage with the local community (@portobelobayfoundation) with hands-on art workshops, music classes, carpentry workshops and more. Additionally, since you are within the National Park, you’ll experience the many marine beauties of #Panama from mangroves, rivers, beaches — and learn about the history that is so deeply rooted in this tranquil hidden beauty.

🫶🏼 I am so lucky that this property only works with a select few of advisors + travel companies (me!) so I can share this place with you. 🫶🏼 This is hands down one of my favorite properties I have ever stepped foot on! I’m keeping it semi-secret for reasons you can probably guess from this reel… it’s such a special place! (but if you know — you know!)

2023! A year of gratitude and growth. This was actually (!) Salt Sanctuary Soul’s first year!! Can you believe it!? It’s humbling to look back on what we have accomplished, the goals we’ve crushed, the people who crossed our paths and the places we’ve traveled — and, what’s to come! 2023 we definitely rode the waves - the ups and the downs, the ebbs and flows - and this year we’re looking at continuing the sail - the courage, the commitment, the not worrying about the pace + trusting what’s meant for you won’t miss you… 🌊⛵️(P.S. Thank you @yogachrissy for a fabulous New Year Day practice with all these gentle reminders!)

We’re growing steadily and genuinely. We only hope that #saltsanctuarysoul can continue in the authentic approach we rooted our manifesto in from the beginning. One of my favorite experiences to date was participating in a @cozumelcoralreefrestoration program off the shores off #Cozumel with @virginvoyages. This area is home to a coast lined with the miles-long Meso-American Barrier Reef — home to some of the most stunning coral reef formations and sea creatures in the Caribbean.

On our tour, we experienced the rich biodiversity of Cozumel while helping preserving the health of the ocean. Oh, and we even planted mangroves! My textbook Pisces self was very happy!! 🐟 🐠

At Cozumel’s only Reef Restoration program, we were led by marine biologist experts (pictured!) who talked through the coral reproduction and restoration concepts. We learned so much!! And, we even went on a snorkel tour of the coral gardens and body surfed our way back to shore.

Proceeds from our participation supports the Coral Farms program, allowing the program to continue their efforts to replenish reefs and educate others. One of the best souvenirs is our certificate of completion (also, pictured!) to take home — our kids were so proud of us to hear this story!

It’s no secret, we looooove planning and crafting #France #travel. With our network of relationships, partners and friends we have made throughout the years, we wiggle in our seats excited to share our special places with you!!

Between late summer and mid fall of this year, we worked on a number of trips for clients (wellness, culinary and bucket list stops!) and so grateful for all the support with our partners on the ground to make these trips a success!

I wanted to share a few notes from our happy travelers with you in hopes it jogs a little wanderlust and ideas for a Europe trip for yourselves!
