My wife and I just returned from another trip planned by Courtney from Salt Sanctuary Soul.  It was remarkable!  For almost a year I was working with Courtney on creating more than a trip, but a memorable “experience” to celebrate my wife’s special birthday.  Everything, and I mean everything, needed to be a surprise starting with my wife not knowing the destination until we went through customs. Then surprise...Montenegro.  Wow! A boutique hotel, swimming the Adriatic Sea, and sunsets dinner. Then, surprise, a full day with a remarkable guide and our driver.  History, culture, insights, humor, stories…Montenegro came to life for us.  We didn’t just visit Kotor and that part of the coast, but we “felt it”.  Top it off with a relaxed and homemade luncheon prepared by a wonderful lady for authentic local food, flavors and grappa!

A few days later another surprise at the border of Croatia and into Dubrovnik.  Before settling into another wonderful boutique hotel, the staff provided us with an orientation to the property.  They were in on the "big surprise” and were absolutely wonderful.  As we were finishing a short tour of the property, we turned the corner by the pool and our grandchildren, daughter and son-in-law, who flew in that morning, gave my wife a big “happy birthday” with hugs and tears all around.  Unbeknownst to my wife, I flew them in earlier that day with the help of Courtney and her partners planning the surprise!  Another surprise, the next week plus was spent on the island of Hvar in a wonderful rental by the seaside, and a pool the kids loved!  Add in the underwater wine tasting, a boat on the Adriatic Sea on a private boat, and a visit to a family owned oyster and mussels farm..wow! Our last couple days was spent in Sibenik, where we enjoyed a visit to Krka National Park, especially the waterfalls!

If you think you can plan your own trips, you are correct.  If you want to plan a successful, memorable and phenomenal “experience”, then look to the professionals who know the places and people.  Courtney and her partners get it.  An honorable mention to another partner of Courtney’s.  As our local contact, she went out of her way many times.  We received an invitation to her home on Hvar, an olive and lavender farm on a seaside hill. A day of kayaking in the sea and then a luncheon prepared by Courtney’s partner.  Purely magical.

Courtney recommended the landmark hotel, Hotel El Convento. absolutely wonderful and full of history, amazing architecture, a wonderful staff…and a plunge pool to enjoy after walking around Old San Juan.  Her recommendation to stay in Old San Juan was perfect, close to whatever you wanted to do and all the historical sites.  El Morro Fort and the San Juan Cathedral were very interesting.  From Old San Juan we sailed on the Windstar Star Pride to the Windward Islands.  Again, amazing! The ship's crew and staff were tremendous, the accommodations very nice and large, and the refreshments flowing. Our favorite islands included Bequia (small and intimate), Mayreau (our private island - this is what you think about when you think “Caribbean”), and Les Saintes (we rented a golf cart and explored the island…fantastic!) Beautify weather, wonderful times, great people…life is good!  After numerous trips planned by Courtney, another great travel recommendation by Courtney and Salt Sanctuary Soul.  We can’t wait for her next travel idea!

Feeling so grateful to have had this experience.  Maui brought us the perfect ease into the honeymoon with total island vibes, sunny days, poolside naps, lovely service and vibes at the Andaz, snorkeling, and a true "honeymooning" feel.  We just could not get enough of the island, the flora and fauna, the local spirit. Every meal and experience was a 10/10. As we drove to and from these various experiences and locations, we often found ourselves pulling over to check out a local food or coffee spot, store/boutique, etc.

We truly think Kauai was the hardest goodbye!

Overall our Portugal trip was exceptional. Our time in Lisbon, in particular, exceeded all expectations. Beginning our first evening with the Fado dinner was an absolutely wonderful way to get a feel for the Portuguese culture. Our subsequent tour of Lisbon via tuk/tuk in the morning followed by a private driver and tours of the castle and monastery in the afternoon was extremely well planned and offered a perfect way to familiarize ourselves with the city of Lisbon and its amazing history. Enough cannot be said about our guide.

Lastly, Courtney the dining experiences were nothing but first class. Both SUD Terrazoa Lisboa in Bellem and Mare Jose Alvarez in Cais cais were exceptional and rank among the best of our travel experience.

All in all, Courtney the itinerary you designed allowed us to experience Lisbon to the fullest.
